Since 1984, we have taught an inclusive international curricula for preschool and kindergarten in Slidell.
Children's College is the first and only preschool and kindergarten in Slidell, Louisiana which is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is rated 4 stars by the Quality Start Child Care Rating System of Louisiana. It was started in 1984 by Mrs. Nargis Akhtar as the area's premier early childhood center. The Children's College programme is innovative both culturally and technologically with a focus on international education and global citizenship. Since 1984, it was the first school in Slidell to introduce computers in instruction for young children, a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A. Its unique pedagogy incorporates mathematics and phonics with self-esteem education and Swahili language instruction. Children’s College also works with parents to help them continue teaching their children at home in order to reinforce structure. The 8 Keys to a Better Me system helps children develop leadership skills that will serve them well in the future and help them to resist negative peer pressure to succeed in school and beyond.
